NEW ATEX MARKING FOR NET2X/3X – NOW FOR USE IN UNDERGROUND MINES
NEW ATEX MARKING FOR NET2X/3X SENSOR HEADS – NOW FOR USE IN UNDERGOUND MINES
NET has just renewed the ATEX certificate for NET2X/3X sensor heads (certificate CESI01ATEX066U).
In addition to the existing “II 2G Ex db IIC Gb” marking, from May 2022 the enclosures will be available also with the “I M2 Ex db I Mb” marking. This significant addition allows the product to be used also for underground applications, typically in mines.
The main additions involve the following aspects:
- Equipment Group – “I”, for use in underground mines and “II” for use in surface applications.
- Device Category – “M2”,high level of protection for mine applications and a sufficient degree of safety and “2G”, High level of protection for surface applications, sufficient safety to handle frequent device malfunction or one fault.
- Gas Group – “I”, which covers electrical apparatus for mining applications endangered by firedamp (coal dust and methane containing atmospheres) and “IIC” which is for all remaining potentially explosive atmospheres This group is divided into IIA, IIB, and IIC. These subdivisions are based on the different non-transmission of an internal ignition and the ignitability of the gases and vapours. A IIC-classified equipment covers any gas or vapour.
- Equipment Protection Level (EPL) – “Mb” and “Gb”, high protection: the equipment remains safe in normal operation, also when faults occur (single fault). Mb is for equipment intended to be used in mines while Gb is for equipment intended to be used in non-mining applications for gas/vapour/mist hazards.
